My old letter to my future self didn't get further than "dear"

I didn't plan to read it or even plan to be here

I still have it like the worst of my depression's a souvenir

But I think I'd write a few more words if I tried again this year

I'd love to tell my younger self at grad we're the best dressed

And thousands of people have heard our songs and were impressed

And if it helps us make it through the month, I'd lie with my whole chest

That at the end of every year I consider that one the best

But I couldn't go back to then if I was given a time machine

To come from watching my classmates get close to our graduation
